Irksome shit...

Life Isn't Attacking You

Today was supposed to be productive.

The bounce houses were aired up and ready. The yard needed mowed. The DJ gear needed packed. I had a plan.

Then I sat there and watched it rain... with the sun shining.

You can't make this shit up.

Yesterday my internet went down and I had to leave work early before a three-day weekend. Today the weather decided to remind me that it doesn't give a damn about my schedule.

I'll admit it.

For about ten minutes, all I wanted to do was crack open a cold beer, turn on a Star Wars marathon, and tell the rest of the world to fuck off.

But then I had to remind myself of something.

None of this is actually a problem.

It's just life being life.

The weather isn't against me.

The internet wasn't personal.

The grass isn't growing out of spite.

Life just refuses to organize itself around my schedule.

The funny thing is, twenty years ago I would've traded almost anything to have these "problems." Work to do. Side businesses that are booked. A yard that needs mowing. People depending on me.

Those aren't burdens.

Those are blessings disguised as inconveniences.

So I grabbed myself by the short curlies, laughed at the clouds, and got to work.

Because waiting for a perfect day is a great way to waste a perfectly good one.

And we got them under cover just in time. It is STILL pouring its ass off.

Everything is ready.

And this drink tastes DAMN good.

Ross's Rule #7

Life isn't attacking you.

It's just refusing to organize itself around your schedule.

Now quit staring at the storm...

You've got shit to do.
